The <br />noise metric is evaluated as either the day -night <br />average sound level (Ldn) or the community noise <br />equivalent level (CNEL), consistent with the noise <br />element of the local general plan. <br />The State of California's noise insulation standards <br />for non-residential uses are codified in the <br />California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Building <br />Standards Administrative Code, Part 11, California <br />Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen). <br />CALGreen noise standards are applied to new or <br />renovation construction projects in California to <br />control interior noise levels resulting from exterior <br />noise sources. Proposed projects may use either <br />the prescriptive method (Section 5.507.4.1) or the <br />performance method (Section 5.507.4.2) to show <br />compliance. Under the prescriptive method, a <br />project must demonstrate transmission loss ratings <br />for the wall and roof -ceiling assemblies and exterior <br />windows when located within a noise environment <br />of 65 dBA CNEL or higher.
