Health Problems from Damp or Signs of Dampness or Mold <br /> Moldy Buildings <br /> Living or working in damp or moldy buildings Signs of dampness or mold that may cause health <br /> increases the risk of many harmful health problems, problems include: <br /> including: <br /> • visible mold (regardless of color), such as on walls <br /> asthma attacks in people who already have or ceilings, behind furniture or appliances, under <br /> • asthma carpets, or even hidden in areas not seen in the <br /> occupied areas of homes <br /> • a new asthma diagnosis • mold odor, noticed as an earthy, musty, or moldy <br /> • respiratory infections, such as bronchitis smell <br /> • breathing symptoms, such as hay fever, sneezing, • visible water damage, such as water-stains or <br /> stuffy nose, sore throat, wheezing, breathing discoloration on walls or ceilings, peeling or <br /> difficulty, or cough bubbled paint, warped floors, or rotting wood <br /> • eczema or skin rash • damp or moist materials, including condensation <br /> on windows or walls <br /> Mold can affect people differently. How much a <br /> person is affected depends on how sensitive they are Any one of these signs indicates increased risks to <br /> and on how much they are exposed.
