• <br /> A. Completion of seven (7) years of municipal police <br /> experience and attainment of "E" Step of the base salary rate range <br /> for the Police Sergeant classification. <br /> B . Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) <br /> educational and/or training units; or possession of an Associate of <br /> Arts academic degree from an accredited college with an additional <br /> thirty (30) or more education or training units . <br /> C. Approval of the Chief of Police . <br /> Section 8 . Senior Police Sergeant III . Any officer holding <br /> the rank of Police Sergeant in the Santa Ana Police Department, <br /> regardless of duty assignment, who fulfills the requirements <br /> established in this section shall be designated as a Senior Police <br /> Sergeant III and shall be paid at a rate set twenty-five (25) <br /> salary rate ranges (12 . 5%) above his or her then current base <br /> monthly salary step. The criteria for such designation shall be as <br /> follows : <br /> A. Completion of nine (9) years of municipal police <br /> experience and attainment of "E" Step of the base salary rate range <br /> for the Police Sergeant classification. <br /> B . Completion (acquisition) of at least one hundred <br /> twenty (120) educational/training units; or possession of an <br /> Associate of Arts academic degree from an accredited college with <br /> an additional sixty (60) or more educational/training units . <br /> C. Approval of the Chief of Police . <br /> ARTICLE VII - TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br /> Section 1 . Purpose . <br /> A. To encourage the employees of the City of Santa Ana to <br /> take college courses and special training courses which will better <br /> enable them to perform their present duties and prepare them for <br /> increased responsibilities . <br /> B . To provide financial assistance to eligible employees <br /> for education and training. <br /> C. To establish eligibility requirements, conditions and <br /> procedures whereby such assistance may be provided. <br /> Section 2 . Eligibility. <br /> A. Applications for tuition reimbursement will be <br /> considered only from full-time, permanent City employees who have <br /> completed probation. <br /> 15 <br />
