Section 3 . A newly appointed employee must actually work at <br /> least one day preceding the day a holiday listed in Section 1, <br /> supra, actually occurs in order to receive credit for such holiday. <br /> The employee will then be credited with all remaining holidays in <br /> the year occurring after the appointment . <br /> An employee separating from the service of the City must <br /> actually work at least one day following the day a holiday listed <br /> in Section 1, supra, actually occurs in order to receive credit <br /> for that holiday. <br /> A newly appointed employee must complete six (6) months of <br /> continuous full-time service in order to receive credit for the <br /> Floating Holiday listed in Section 1 above . <br /> Section 4 . This "time off, " as defined in Article X, Section <br /> 6 , may be taken in increments as small as one half (1/2) hour, with <br /> fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one <br /> half (1/2) hour. <br /> Section 5 . Holiday benefits may not be carried over from one <br /> calendar year to the next . <br /> ARTICLE X - VACATION <br /> Section 1 . Purpose . It is the policy of the City to grant <br /> employees vacation leave in order to provide them with a break in <br /> their regular work schedule and this purpose will be used as a <br /> guide in the administration of the provisions of this Article . <br /> Section 2 . Regular Vacation Period. <br /> A. Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full-time <br /> permanent or probationary employee at the rate of 15 working days <br /> for each completed year of service, accrued at the rate of 10 <br /> working hours for each completed month of service. Employees hired <br /> after August 9, 1979 shall be granted regular vacation at the rate <br /> of 10 working days for each of his or her first and second <br /> completed year of service, accrued at the rate of 6 2/3 hours for <br /> each completed month of service . Thereafter, all such employees <br /> shall be granted regular vacation at the rate of 15 working days <br /> for each completed year of services, accrued at the rate of 10 <br /> working hours for each completed month of service . <br /> B . An employee who has completed less than one year' s <br /> service during the calendar year shall receive a proportionate <br /> fraction in accordance with the amount of service to his or her <br /> credit during the year; provided, however, no employee shall be <br /> entitled to, or receive payment for, any vacation until he or she <br /> has completed six (6) months of continuous service . <br /> 24 <br />
