ARTICLE IV - SALARIES <br /> Section 1 . Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby <br /> established a basic compensation plan for all members of the Santa <br /> Ana Police Officers Association who are now employed or will in the <br /> future be employed in any of the designated classifications of <br /> employment listed in this Agreement and its attachments . <br /> Section 2 . Salary Schedule . The basic salary schedule, <br /> attached hereto in a matrix format as Exhibit A, and made a part <br /> hereof as though set forth in full herein, provides numerous salary <br /> rate ranges, each comprised of five (5) steps or rates of pay. <br /> The respective rate ranges are identified by a three digit <br /> number. The steps within each range are identified by the letters <br /> "A" through "E" inclusive, with the "A" step being the lowest step <br /> in the range . The purpose of each step and the length of service <br /> required for advancement to the next higher step within a <br /> particular salary rate range are set forth in Section 7 below. <br /> Section 3 . Salaries . <br /> A. Effective July 1, 1995, the base salaries of <br /> employees covered by this Agreement shall be increased by five (5) <br /> salary rate ranges (2 . 50) . <br /> B. The assignment of classes to salary rate ranges is <br /> listed in Exhibit B, which is attached and made a part hereof as <br /> though set forth herein. <br /> C. Effective July 1, 1997, employees designated as <br /> CalPERS miscellaneous will contribute one percent (1%) of their <br /> salary towards the 2% at 55 retirement benefit by taking a <br /> reduction in pay of two (2) salary rate ranges . <br /> Section 4 . Application of Basic Compensation Plan. The salary <br /> rate ranges and steps contained in Exhibit B are monthly salary <br /> rates . All officers and employees working in classifications of <br /> employment covered by this Agreement shall be compensated at a <br /> monthly rate, except that an employee hired for temporary work in <br /> a position which has an anticipated duration of less than six (6) <br /> months shall be paid at a rate per hour for actual time spent in <br /> the performance of the duties of his or her employment . Any hourly <br /> rate of pay, defined as the regular hourly rate of pay, shall be <br /> computed by dividing the monthly salary rate by 173 . 33 . In <br /> determining the hourly rate as herein provided, computation shall <br /> be made to the nearest whole cent and a computation resulting in <br /> exactly one-half cent shall fix the rate at the next higher whole <br /> cent . <br /> 6 <br />
