(30) , eight (8) hour working days (240 hours) and <br /> only an employee with more than twenty (20) years <br /> service could carry over and take the authorized <br /> maximum of fifty (50) , eight (8) hour working days <br /> (400 hours) in any one year. <br /> Notwithstanding the foregoing, for any affected <br /> employee who is in jeopardy of losing vacation <br /> because of department staffing needs, the Police <br /> Chief may provide for a 30-day extension beyond the <br /> normal cut off date so that such employee will not <br /> lose vacation time. <br /> 10 . 5 Excess Usage . If vacation time off is used in excess of <br /> that available, such excess vacation time off will be, <br /> first , deducted from any available compensatory time off <br /> accrual; finally, deducted from the next scheduled wage <br /> or salary payment . <br /> 10 . 6 Time Off Bank. An Employee Time Off Bank exists for each <br /> employee in the unit . Time off will be computed on an <br /> annual basis and will be composed of allowable vacation, <br /> holidays, and compensatory time based on existing <br /> policies . The time off from this bank may be taken in <br /> increments as small as one half (1/2) hour, with <br /> fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher <br /> multiple of one half (1/2) hour. <br /> Each affected employee shall be afforded the opportunity <br /> to submit time off selection (s) and the Police Chief or <br /> his designee shall make every reasonable effort to <br /> accommodate the employee' s preference (s) . The time at <br /> which an employee shall take his or her leave time shall <br /> be determined by the Police Chief, with due regard for <br /> the wishes of the employee and particular regard for the <br /> needs of the service . <br /> NOTE : All other policies and procedures described in Article VIII , <br /> "Overtime" , Article IX, "Holidays" , and Article X, "Vacation" will <br /> apply to the Time Off Bank. However, no employee will be allowed <br /> to carry a negative balance in the Time Off Bank. <br /> 35 <br />
