of Santa Ana <br />Section 1: SSMP Goal and Introduction <br />Section 1: SSMP Goal and Introduction <br />Section 1 of this SSMP addresses the requirements included in Attachment D-1 of <br />the Order. The requirements state: <br />SSMP Goal and Introduction: The goal of the SSMP (Plan) is to provide a plan <br />and schedule to 1) properly manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the <br />sanitary sewer system(s), 2) reduce and prevent spills, and 3) contain and mitigate <br />spills that do occur. The Plan must include a narrative introduction section that <br />discusses the following: <br />(a) A general description of the local sewer system management program and <br />discuss Plan implementation and updates; <br />(b) A schedule for the Enrollee to update the Plan, including the schedule for <br />conducting internal audits. The schedule must include milestones for the <br />incorporation of activities addressing the prevention of sewer spills, <br />(c) A description of the Enrollee -owned assets and service area, including but not <br />limited to: location, including county(ies), service area boundary, population <br />and community served, system size (including total length in miles, length of <br />gravity mainlines, length of pressurized (force) mains, and number of pump <br />stations and siphons), structures diverting stormwater to the system, data <br />management systems, sewer system ownership and operation responsibilities <br />between Enrollee and private entities for upper and lower sewer laterals, the <br />estimated number or percent of residential, commercial, and industrial service <br />connections, and unique service boundary conditions and challenge(s). <br />(d) A reference to the Enrollee's up-to-date map of its sanitary sewer system as <br />required in Section 4.1 of the Order. <br />1.1 Goals <br />The City of Santa Ana recognizes the importance of protecting ocean water quality by preventing sewer spills <br />and has supplemented its existing sewer system maintenance practices with the Waste Discharge <br />Requirements (WDR). <br />The following specific goals have also been identified to serve as key performance indicators of the program. <br />The success of the SSMP program is evaluated based on the accomplishments of these goals: <br />• Conduct a system -wide closed-circuit television inspection (CCTV) of all manholes and gravity mains <br />at least onceevery eight years; <br />• Inspect 100% of gravity grease interceptors annually; <br />• Meet the assigned cleaning frequencies for all gravity mains; and <br />2025 1-1 <br />
