22 <br /> <br />ARTICLE IX <br /> <br /> 9.0 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />9.1 Legal holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees of the City of <br />Santa Ana are as follows: <br /> <br />o January 1st - New Year’s Day <br /> <br />o Third (3rd) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday <br /> <br />o Third (3rd) Monday in February - In observance of Presidents’ Day <br /> <br />o March 31st - In observance of Cesar Chavez Day <br /> <br />o Last Monday in May - In commemoration of Memorial Day <br /> <br />o July 4th - In observance of Independence Day <br /> <br />o First (1st) Monday of September - In observance of Labor Day <br /> <br />o November 11th - In observance of Veteran’s Day <br /> <br />o Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />o The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />o Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on Thursday, in <br />which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu thereof. <br /> <br />o December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day <br /> <br />o One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br />permission of the employee’s supervisor. <br /> <br />o Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br /> <br />9.2 Full-time time permanent and probationary employees shall receive thirteen (13) working <br />days off, eight (8) hours per day, during the calendar year in lieu of the holiday benefits <br />specified in Section 9.1.
