Employees may or may not be allowed or required to accumulate or split <br />vacations. The time at which an employee shall take their vacation shall be <br />determined by seniority within rank, with due regard for the needs of the service. <br /> <br />For purposes of computing vacation accruals, an eight (8) hour day shall be the basis <br />for computation. <br /> <br />D. Vacation Leave Cash Option. <br />1. Through December 31, 2025 <br />a. Employees may receive cash compensation, computed on a straight- <br />time basis, for up to a maximum of one hundred fifty (150) hours of <br />earned, unused vacation leave benefits, subject to the limitation in <br />Section 10.2(E). <br />2. Effective January 1, 2026 and continuing every year thereafter <br />a. If an employee wants to cash-out unused vacation leave they accrued <br />during the calendar year, they must make an irrevocable election by <br />December 15th of the prior calendar year (i.e., by December 15, 2025 for <br />a cash-out in calendar year 2026). The provisions of Section <br />10.2(D)(1)(a) shall also apply to management vacation leave. <br />b. The irrevocable election must indicate the amount of vacation hours <br />the employee intends to cash-out during the next calendar year. The <br />number of hours to be cashed-out cannot exceed the total number of <br />hours the employee will accrue during the same calendar year, or a <br />maximum of one hundred fifty (150) hours, whichever is the lesser <br />amount. <br />c. Once the election form is submitted to Payroll, the amount of hours to <br />be cashed out cannot be changed for that calendar year. <br />d. Employees may submit a request for cash-out up to two (2) times per <br />year for payment. <br />  <br />  <br />City Council 25 – 29 12/2/2025
