employee, seniority shall govern the order of layoff. The employee with the lowest <br /> seniority in the affected classification shall be laid off first. <br /> B. In lieu of layoff, an employee may elect to work in a lower classification, in which <br /> they have served, providing that a vacancy exists and the classification is within the <br /> same job family/career ladder. In that event,the employee's length of service in the <br /> next lower classification shall be added to their length of service in the affected <br /> classification, and the combined seniority shall be used to bump down into the next <br /> lower classification. This method of combining seniority shall be applied to <br /> subsequent lower classifications. <br /> C. The reemployment Iist shall be valid for one (1) year from the date of its <br /> establishment. Reemployment shall be in reverse order of layoffs. The Joint Labor <br /> Management Team as outlined in Section 21.3 shall determine Job family/Career <br /> Ladder for purposes of layoff. <br /> 20.6 An employee who is laid off from full time City employment pursuant to this Article, may <br /> be granted a temporary appointment to a vacant position in any classification for which <br /> there is no eligible list and for which the employee meets the minimum qualifications <br /> established for the classification and possesses the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities <br /> to satisfactorily perform the work of the classification.
