The stairs and open covered porches run along <br />the inside of both buildings, facing the center courtyard.. A wood fence runs <br />along the front of the courtyard, connecting the two halves of the building. <br />900 BLOCK OF NORTH GARFIELD STREET: <br />904 N. Garfield St. Wanzlaff House Colonial Revival 1923 <br />Clad in wide clapboard siding, the Wanzlaff House is topped by an <br />ell -shaped gabled roof, accented at the peaks with caps. Enclosed eaves, <br />with returns, and pairs of small vents are used on the front gable. The <br />entrance is through a small porch, recessed below the south side of the <br />front gable. Latticework covers the south wall of the entry porch. A large; <br />double -hung window, flanked by narrow double -hung sidelights, occupies <br />the space to the south of the porch. Narrow bands and square corners o <br />glass border each window section. A small matching double -hung window, <br />topped by a hipped hood, and underscored with a plant shelf, occupies the <br />space to the north of the entry. A grey chimney graces die center of the <br />south facade, facing Vance Street. <br />All four houses in a row on the west side of the street were built in <br />1923; however, each is a different style. Edgar and Helen Wanzlaff were the <br />first owners of this Colonial Revival house. He worked for the Koepple <br />Mercantile and Collection Agency. <br />908 N. Garfield St. . Turner House Spanish Colonial Revival 1923 <br />A flat roof and unbroken parapet top the Turner House, built in 1923. <br />A square bay, centered with an arched recessed paneled front door, is <br />centered in the front facade. The original coat of stucco covers the exterior. <br />Pairs of small vertically -placed stucco diamonds decorate the wall on each <br />side of the entry and the stucco -clad chimney on the south facade. The sets <br />of windows on each side of the entry feature wide double -hung windows <br />flanked by double -hung sidelights. Narrow glass panes and squares border <br />each section of each window. <br />Ashby and Josephine Turner were the first owners of the house at <br />908. He was a real estate and investment broker, with offices in the <br />
