Crash Data Summary <br /> <br />The most vulnerable users along First Street <br />are those on foot, on bike, rolling or strolling <br />along the sidewalks and crossing across the <br />corridor. Of the 479 traffic collisions recorded <br />along First Street, 12% involved pedestrians <br />(56 collisions) and 11% involved bicycles (52 <br />collisions), summarized in Figure 8. <br />According to the Federal Highway <br />Administration, the average crash rate for <br />pedestrians and bicycles along similar <br />corridors is approximately 4 to 5%, indicating <br />that the frequency of pedestrian and bicycle <br />crashes is higher than a typical six-lane corridor. <br />Figure 8.
