Use caution when opening attachments or links.
March 3, 2026

Non-Agenda Item – One Broadway Plaza

Good Afternoon, Mayor, Council and Staff

When developer, Mike Harrah – Caribou Industries divided us 20 plus years ago, it was
unsettling to say the least. What developers do not realize or even care for that matter, is that
us the people, the residents, the “Santaneros” were left here to pick up the friendships which
were fragmented by the One Broadway Plaza Project. And many of these “fragmented”
friendships were unable to be repaired. Mr. Harrah played it smart – divide and conquer.

Without a doubt, this will occur again.

Many of you on this council were more likely barely finishing high school and probably not even
able to vote on Measure A. At the last Sunshine Meeting. Mr. Harrah led the audience to
believe that many of you are in alignment with this project. He led the audience to believe that
this project is literally a “done deal.” You and I both know, it is far from a “done deal.”

I will speak at tonight’s meeting. Since we are only allowed 3 minutes, the additional email adds
more “flavor” to my view. I know we are far from any decisions being made but I wanted to be
transparent on where I stand. I am against this project – always have been.

I love Santa Ana and I want what is best for her. My only agenda is to leave a better and safer
city for my children and now my grandchildren. And all of you should too.

Sincerely,

Gay Olivos
Ward 5

1
