It seems clear to me that it should apply to neighborhood organizations or a 501{c)(3) organization that is based in Santa Ana or is running an event within Santa Ana. However, there are those that believe if a member of the council wants to support a group that has zero direct connection to Santa Ana, that is OK. I disagree. I am asking that the members of the Santa Ana City Council agendize a discussion on the City Council Special Event Sponsorship Policy. The money should be limited to "city programs, services, and special events produced by qualified nonprofit organizations that are based in Santa Ana or are holding an even within Santa Ana, and/or City recognized neighborhood associations". No exceptions. In conclusion, all monies were distributed as expected but there are many misinterpretations and opinions that can be cleaned up.
