Narrative: Narrative <br />NARRATIVE: <br />06-25-21/1137 Hours: <br />Commander J. Gonzalez #2593 notified me of a possible In-Custody Death at the Santa Ana Jail. I <br />contacted Watch Commander J. Viramontes #2880 who informed me jail personnel was dealing with a <br />SRVVLEOH VXLFLGH LQYROYLQJ D PDOH LQPDWH KRXVHG DORQH LQ D FHOO 0HGLFV KDG EHHQ UHTXHVWHG DORQJ ZLWK <br />SROLFH SHUVRQQHO <br />1154 Hours: <br />Orange County Fire Authority Medics pronounced the subject deceased at the Santa Ana Jail. <br />1225 Hours: <br />Commander Viramontes briefed me of the details known to him at the time. Also in attendance were <br />members of the Internal Affairs Division. He informed us Jail Supervisor M. Monreal #3181 was the <br />designated scene supervisor.$IWHU WKH EULHILQJ , FRPPXQLFDWHG ZLWK WKH 6XSHUYLVLQJ ,QYHVWLJDWRU 6WDQ <br />Berry of the Orange County District Attorney¶s Office Special Assignments Unit. <br />1415 Hours: <br />OCDA Investigators, homicide detectives and members of the Santa Ana Police Department Internal Affairs <br />Division attended a briefing at the Santa Ana Jail held by Jail Supervisor Monreal. Monreal informed us that <br />the decedent was housed in cell C#17, located on the top tier. He was in protective custody and housed <br />alone in a cell. The decedent was identified as Darryle Marcell Samuel, a United States Marshall¶s inmate <br />housed at the Santa Ana Jail since May 24, 2021. Monreal provided us additional details of the incident <br />known to her at the time. For details, please refer to Detective M.
