While on scene, I was able to track apple devices via the find
my iPhone application on his father’s cell phone. devices were
showing at 1716 to 1720 S. Birch Street. I requested the assistance of
additional officers and set up a perimeter around the location. I
requested the assistance of air support who arrived on scene and later
located the suspects. Officer Perez and I drove to the front of 1720 S.
Birch Street and observed from about 10 yards away in the front
lawn of the residence. I observed wearing a black and white
stripped shirt with black pants, which was the same description that
both of the victims provided.
I turned on my overhead blue and steady forward facing red light and
gave commands to put his hands up while pointing my gun at
him. did not comply and ran in west bound direction into the front
door of 1720 S. Birch Street. Additional officers were on scene and
contained the residence. was later taken into custody at 1719 S.
Ross Street by Officer M. Benavides #3766, refer to his supplemental
report for further details.
A safety sweep of the backyard was conducted by additional officers for
any possible outstanding suspects with negative results. K9 officer E.
Maietta #3370 located a pellet gun on top of a dresser located in the
rear patio area of the residence. The pellet gun was later collected by
Forensic Specialist S. Davila #3975. Corporal G. Raya #3345 received
verbal consent from home owner to search inside of
the residence for the victim’s property. Officer Perez and I conducted a
search for the victim’s property.
Evidence:
Officer Perez was searching inside of a bedroom located on the
southeast portion of the residence and located a firearm matching the
victim’s description. The firearm was in a black fabric case that was
located on a shelf inside of the closet. The firearm was a Springfield
1911 handgun that was silver in color with a brown grip. The gun
matched the description gave to Officer Perez and also matched
the style of handgun that showed Officer Perez from an internet
search.
Santa Ana PD 2025-11359 3 of 5
