transported to OC Global Hospital by Falck Ambulance. Officers Nevarez and Monaco followed Falck ambulance to
OC Global.
Officer Benavides responded to 1720 S Birch St and told me he used force (knee strikes) while taking into
custody. He also told me that was a minor. Please refer to Officer Benavides’s supplemental report for details
regarding his involvement.
I then responded to OC Global Hospital, located at 1001 N. Tustin Ave. I spoke with Officer Nevarez, who told me he
used force (fist strikes and control hold) while taking into custody. I then spoke with Officer Monaco, who told
me she used force (control hold) while taking into custody.
I observed lying in a hospital bed. I conducted my administrative investigation and observed the following. He
had redness to both knees, his right cheek and eye were red and swollen, scrapes to his left eye area, swelling to his
nose, dry blood on his nose, and faint scratches to his stomach area.
I requested CSI Forensic Specialist Davila to respond to the hospital and photograph injuries. CSI Davila
photographed his injuries and documented them on her police report. For further details, please refer to her police
report.
I then returned to 1719 S. Ross St. and looked for any potential surveillance cameras or witnesses who might have
seen or captured the use of force. I did not locate any.
was eventually released from the hospital and booked at juvenile hall.
Sgt. M.
