DeGraffenreid Approved By: <br />Date of Report: December 24, 2012 Date: 01/02/13 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />On the above date and time, I conducted an audio digital recorded interview of Doctor <br />, who treated IGNACIO LEON after he was transported to Western Medical <br />Center following an officer involved shooting incident. The following is a summary of the <br />interview: <br /> is currently employed as an emergency room physician and surgeon at <br />Western Medical Center. <br />On Saturday, December 16, 2012 at approximately 0000 Hours, LEON was transported <br />to Western Medical Center’s Emergency Room by paramedics and admitted under medical <br />record was the treating physician for LEON. LEON entered the Emergency <br />Room conscious and was able to answer questions regarding his medical history. <br />LEON did not make any statements regarding what had occurred that evening or how he was <br />injured. <br /> LEON was admitted for two gunshot wounds; one was a through and through wound to <br />his right chest area and the second was a gunshot wound to his right abdomen. A chest X-Ray <br />and a Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) Scan were completed. The chest wound was <br />determined not to need treatment. The right abdomen wound was determined to need an <br /> for an injury to LEON’S The right side of LEON’S and his <br /> during surgery. After surgery, the abdomen was left open and <br />would be closed during a future surgery. <br />The CAT scan showed one projectile still lodged in LEON’S back, under his skin. <br /> did not remove this projectile during surgery and believes that it will be removed <br />during the future surgery. Instructions were left for Emergency Room Personnel to contact me <br />when the projectile was removed so that it could be collected as evidence.
