Dawson Approved By: <br />Date of Report: 10/04/13 Date: 10/04/2013 <br />Page 12 of 51 <br />AYALA: Uh, and as I’m walking through to alley, I’m in the middle of the alley <br />exposed, uh, female stepped out holding a uh, gray or silver sem-, <br />semiautomatic handgun. <br />DAWSON: Uh-huh. <br />AYALA: Uh, she had it in her right hand in front of her, pointed up towards the <br />sky. <br />DAWSON: And then what happened. <br />AYALA: And then uh, I remember yelling gun out loud. I kind of took a side step <br />as I unholstered my weapon. And when she stepped out, a portion of her <br />stepped out, so I took that opportunity to also step southbound, <br />unholster my weapon…I kinda use that wall as that cover in the <br />meantime as, while I unholster my weapon. And then, as I unholster my <br />weapon, I extended my right hand forward. Uh, started shooting through <br />the wall hoping that the rounds would go penetrate the wall. I was <br />exposed in the alley, it’s…she had the drop on me, I was just playing catch <br />up. If, all she had to do was point that gun at me and I would’ve gotten <br />shot in the face, or in the chest, or I would’ve been dead in the alley. <br />DAWSON: Okay. <br />AYALA: So I feared for my safety. I was scared. I said okay, she’s got me, she’s got <br />the drop on me, uh, that’s when I unholstered, started shooting a couple <br />rounds through the wall.
