And then uh, I remember shooting <br />my rounds, as she was coming out, I could hear additional gunfire. I, I <br />couldn’t tell who’s they were. I don’t remember hearing my partner <br />shooting, or if it was her shooting, I just remember hearing gun shots. <br />DAWSON: Okay. <br />AYALA: And uh, once I made it to the back of the unit, that’s when I noticed <br />where my partner was. <br />DAWSON: And then what happened after that? <br />AYALA: Uh, a unit showed up, it was one of the park rangers, you know, let me, <br />let me back up a little bit. As soon as I made it behind the garage on the <br />uh, east side of the alley… <br />DAWSON: Okay. <br />AYALA: ESQUIVEL is in the west side of the alley behind the uh, dumpster. I look <br />to the left, to the west, and I see a, a side door that leads to a courtyard <br />to the apartment complexes. And I told ESQUIVEL hey, these guys are <br />gonna go ahead double back and they’re gonna flank us, so, I was gonna <br />go ahead and watch the left, keep your eyes open, they’re gonna come <br />through there, they’re gonna shoot us and flank us. And we’re still, now <br />we’re kinda dealing with two directions where suspects might come out <br />towards us. So I told him hey, uh, that’s when the uh, park ranger showed <br />up…so I told him hey, push back behind his unit. And we pushed back
