SECTION 44: That section 8-942 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended <br />such that it reads as follows (new language underlined, deleted language in strikeout for tracking <br />purposes only): <br />Sec. 8-942. Uses not permitted (Section ??? 334.12). <br />Section 334-12 334.12 of the California Electrical Code is amended to read as <br />follows: <br />Sec. ??? 334.12. Uses Not Permitted. <br />(A) Types NM, NMC and NMS. Types NM, NMC and NMS cables shall <br />not be permitted as follows: <br />1. In any multifamily dwelling or other structure exceeding three <br />floors above grade. <br />For the purpose of this aisle section the first floor of a building <br />shall be that floor that has 50 percent or more of the exterior wall <br />surface area level with or above finished grade. One additional <br />level that is the first level and not designed for human habitation <br />and used only for vehicle parking, storage, or similar use shall be <br />permitted. <br />Exception: An additional level shall be permitted where the <br />renovation of attic, vehicle parking, or storage space creates a <br />habitable floor level in an existing one-family dwelling. <br />2. Exposed in dropped or suspended ceilings in other than one- <br />and two-family and multifamily dwellings <br />3. As service-entrance cable <br />4. In any nonresidential building or structure <br />5. In hoistways <br />6. Embedded in poured cement, concrete, or aggregate <br />7. In storage battery rooms <br />8.
