• (b) Extent. The access roadway shall be extended to within one <br />hundred fifty (150) feet of all portions of the exterior walls of the first story <br />of any building. Where the access roadway cannot be provided, approved <br />fire protection system or systems shall be provided as required and <br />approved by the fire marshal. <br />(c) Fire protection alternate. Where fire protection systems approved <br />by the fire marshal are provided, the above required clearance may be <br />modified. <br />(d) Oversizing. The fire marshal shall have the authority to require an <br />increase in the minimum access width where such width is not adequate <br />for fire or rescue operations. <br />(b) Subsection 503.7 is added to the California Fire Code to read as follows: <br />503.7 Planned Unit Development Access. <br />(a) Road widths. Access roadways or streets in a PUD shall comply <br />with the provisions of Santa Ana Municipal Code Sections 14 -24 and 14- <br />25 as well as the road widths as follows: <br />28 feet wide when parking is not allowed on either side of the <br />• roadway. <br />32 feet wide when parking is not allowed on only one side of the <br />roadway and, <br />36 feet wide when parking is not restricted. <br />(b) Dead Ends. Dead end fire department access roads shall be in <br />accordance with Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 14 -25. <br />(c) Cul -de -sacs. Cul -de -sacs shall be maintained clear and <br />unobstructed as required by Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 14 -25. <br />(c) Subsections 503.2, 503.2.1, 503.2.2, 503.2.3, 503.2.4 of the <br />California Fire Code are deleted. <br />(d) Subsection 503.4 of the California Fire Code is amended to read as <br />follows: <br />503.4 Obstruction of emergency access lanes. <br />(a) Obstructing emergency access lane. <br />is <br />Ordinance No. NS -2810 <br />Page 31 of 43 <br />
