Redevelopment - Planning, development, redesign, site preparation and improvement, reconstruction and/or <br />rehabilitation of all or part of a project area. <br />Redevelopment Agency Board -The governing body created to designate redevelopment project areas, supervise <br />and coordinate planning for a project area and implement the revitalization program. <br />Redevelopment Plan - Plan for revitalization and redevelopment of land within the project area in order to <br />eliminate blight and remedy the conditions that caused it. <br />Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) - In California, a periodic assessment of regional housing needs <br />conducted by regional councils of government. These assessments include an identification of each local <br />jurisdiction's share of the regional housing need. <br />Rehabilitation - To improve, alter, modernize and/or modify an existing structure to make it safer and healthier, <br />bring it up to building code standards and create more usable space. <br />Relocation - The provision of new housing and/or business locations for residents, businesses or organizations <br />that must move as a result of redevelopment or other governmental activities. <br />Relocation Assistance -Aid for those who relocate, including assistance in finding and paying for a new location, <br />payments to cover moving costs, and additional payments for certain other costs. <br />Replacement Housing - Housing that a public agency must cause to be produced to replace housing destroyed by <br />public action. <br />Section 8 Rent Voucher (a.k.a. Housing Choice Voucher) - Vouchers subsidize the rent based on the difference <br />between 30% of the tenant's income and a Rent Payment Standard. <br />Senior Household - One- or two-person households containing a person at least 62 years of age. <br />Service Needs - The particular services identified for special needs populations, which typically may include <br />transportation, personal care, housekeeping, counseling, meals, case management, personal emergency response, <br />and other services to prevent premature institutionalization and assist individuals to continue living independently. <br />Severely Cost Burden - The extent to which housing costs, including utilities, exceed 50% of gross income, based <br />on data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. <br />Sheltered - Families and persons whose primary nighttime residence is a publicly supervised or privately operated <br />shelter (e.g., emergency and transitional shelters or commercial hotels/motels used to house the homeless). <br />"Sheltered homeless" does not include any individual imprisoned or otherwise detained pursuant to an Act of <br />Congress or State Law. <br />Small Household - A household having fewer than 3 members. <br />Single Room Occupancy Housing (SRO) - Generally, one-room housing units such as boarding houses, rooming <br />houses and motels and hotels.
