This proposal would have major impacts for the City of Santa Ana. <br />Redevelopment has had decades of positive results in improving communities across the state <br />and has contributed to an array of projects throughout Santa Ana. Some of these <br />accomplishments include the Main Place Mall, Santa Ana Auto Mall and the Grand Central Arts <br />Center. The negative impacts on our economy, including job-creation and the development of <br />affordable housing, would be so devastating that the League of California Cities is assembling a <br />team of lawyers to challenge the State if in fact they vote to abolish the redevelopment agencies. <br />The League of California Cities legal team contends that the Governor's proposed elimination of <br />Redevelopment Agencies is unconstitutional based on the passage of Proposition 22 late last <br />year. Cities across the State are contributing toward this expense and the Santa Ana <br />Redevelopment Agency's portion of the fee is $7,500. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The fee will be paid by the Santa Ana Redevelopment Agency. <br />Nancy T.
