REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 6, 2011 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT AMENDMENT WITH THE <br />LIBRARY CORPORATION FOR LIBRARY <br />AUTOMATION SYSTEM <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreement <br />amendment with The Library Corporation, Inc. to provide database subscription service and <br />maintenance in an amount not to exceed $37,220, subject to non - substantive changes approved by <br />the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On June 16, 2003, the City Council approved an agreement with The Library Corporation, Inc. (TLC) <br />to provide a library automation system. TLC provides the Library with a web based client server that <br />manages our library cards and maintains an inventory of books in stock and checked out. The <br />software is used by Library patrons to view the book catalog from one of the Library's catalog <br />computers or online from home. The software includes a report module that prints a variety of <br />reports, including what books are checked out most/least often and how many books the Library has <br />in each collection. The acquisition module helps manage the book budget for each collection, <br />provides a quick and efficient way to search for new books, place orders, and catalog the books into <br />the correct Library collection. <br />The service includes 24 -hour telephone and online support, licensed software updates and <br />enhancements, staff training, online access to cataloging resources, and enhanced content <br />databases. The agreement is for the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 in the amount not <br />to exceed $37,220. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds will be budgeted in FY 20011 -12 Library's Technology & Information Services account <br />(01111190 62300). / <br />erardo Mouet, <br />Executive Director <br />Parks, Rec. and Com <br />Svcs.
