REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 6, 2011 <br />TITLE: <br />PUBLIC HEARING: URBAN WATER <br />MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />< L �k�- <br />CITY MANAGEIR <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />9.7 <br />Qd�snnon let <br />Adopt the updated 2010 Urban Water Management Plan. <br />DISCUSSION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1s' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />The City, as an urban water supplier, is required by the Urban Water Management Plan Act (Act) <br />to update and submit a plan to the California Department of Water Resources every five years. <br />City Council adopted the 2005 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) on November 7, 2005. <br />In May 2010, the City entered into an agreement with the Municipal Water District of Orange <br />County, (MWDOC), to prepare the updated 2010 UWMP. The City's 2010 UWMP updates and <br />revises the 2005 UWMP and includes an analysis of the following elements of the City's system: <br />➢ Water Service Area and Facilities <br />➢ Water Sources and Supplies <br />➢ Water Use by Customer Type <br />➢ Water Supply Reliability <br />➢ Water Shortage Contingency Plan <br />➢ Water Conservation <br />The plan is complete and copies are available for review in the Clerk of the Council's office, and at <br />the Public Works Counter in City Hall. Staff recommends the adoption of the City's 2010 UWMP. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />In accordance with Section 15282 of the CEQA Guidelines, preparation and adoption of urban <br />water management plans are statutorily exempt from further environmental review. <br />75A -1 <br />
