<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ATTACHMENT 6 <br /> <br /> City of Santa Ana <br /> Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency <br /> Policy for Driving on Park Property <br /> Purpose: The purpose of this document is to establish a policy for when it is appropriate for City <br /> employees, contractors, and other organization employees to drive on park turf, paved areas and other <br /> surfaces. <br /> <br /> Policy: Driving on park turf is allowed only when necessary to perform an official City maintenance <br /> or business function, and under the following circumstances: <br /> <br /> A. When delivering over 30 lbs. of equipment or supplies to a job site <br /> <br /> B. When there is no improved surface within 40 yards of the worksite <br /> <br /> C. When emergency personnel are responding to an emergency, or performing other City business <br /> <br /> When driving on park turf, employees and contractors must, to the best of their ability, avoid damage <br /> to sprinkler heads, valve boxes, other irrigation systems components, trees, ground cover and other <br /> park amenities. <br /> <br /> D. Vehicles weighing in excess of 8,000 lbs. are not allowed on park turf without prior approval of <br /> the Park Services Supervisor. If approved, the Park Services Supervisor or his designee will <br /> meet with the employee or contractor and designate the path in and out of the park that will be <br /> the least likely to cause damage. <br /> <br /> E. Employees and contractors must avoid driving on turf any time damage is likely. This <br /> includes periods after rain and heavy watering. <br /> <br /> F. Driving on designated DG pathways and other improved pathways is acceptable when <br /> performing visual inspection of park, park projects, and amenities.
