Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached agreements for <br />demolition services, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney with: <br />• J & G Industries Incorporated in an amount not to exceed $400,000. <br />• American Wrecking Incorporated in an amount not to exceed $400,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 6, 2012, the City Council authorized the Public Works Agency to release a Request <br />for Proposals (RFP) to qualified consulting firms to provide demolition services, as needed, in <br />support of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). These services will be utilized for <br />current CIP projects, including the Grand Avenue widening and Bristol Street widening projects. <br />The RFP for the above services was advertised in the Orange County Register and on the City's <br />Website. Additionally, the RFP was sent to 29 contractors. Of these, 22 expressed further <br />interest and 12 contractors attended the pre-proposal meeting. Of those, seven contractors <br />submitted proposals. Additionally, a special effort to contact ten Santa Ana contractors was <br />made and only two submitted proposals. Each firm was rated according to its qualifications and <br />experience. Following is the list of the firms and their respective scores: <br />25F-1
