7 <br />due to pest damage, the Contractors shall replace the area of turf <br />lost with Pacific Sod Greg Norman 1 Hybrid Bermuda (during <br />spring/summer) and Pacific Sod Greg Norman 1 Hybrid <br />Bermuda that has been cropped over with Perennial Rye grass <br />(during fall /winter). <br />Irrigation System Maintenance <br />a) General Responsibilities <br />b) <br />C) <br />(1) Contractor's Certified Irrigation Specialist shall use automatic or <br />mechanical irrigation systems to irrigate all landscape areas <br />detailed in this Agreement. In the event the existing irrigation <br />system fails to provide full and proper coverage, the Contractor <br />shall provide alternate irrigation with full and proper coverage to <br />all areas in the work site at no extra cost to the City. <br />(2) Newly planted trees, shrubs, ground cover and turf shall receive <br />adequate water to promote normal healthy growth. Proper berms <br />or basins shall be maintained during plant establishment period. <br />Operation of Automatic Irrigation Controllers <br />Where the operation of automatic irrigation controllers is required, the <br />Contractor shall: <br />(1) Not duplicate any coded City key furnished by the Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Agency for access and <br />operation of the controller. <br />(2) Surrender all keys furnished by the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Agency at the end of the contract period or at <br />any time deemed necessary by the Director to prevent serious loss <br />to the City of Santa Ana. <br />(3) Protect the security of City property by keeping controller cabinet <br />and building doors locked at all times. <br />(4) Refrain from using locked premises for storage of materials, <br />supplies or tools, except as approved by the Director. <br />(5) Program normal irrigation between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and <br />4:00 a.m. unless alternative hours are approved by City. <br />Water Conservation <br />(1) The Contractors Certified Irrigation Specialist shall meet once a <br />month with Park Services to review the City's Monthly Water <br />Conservation Report to discuss water conservation strategies. <br />These discussions may include, but not be limited to, the <br />Contractor turning off irrigation systems during periods of rainfall <br />251 -33 <br />23 <br />
