MEMORANDUM
To:
From:
Subject:
Kevin O'Rourke
Interim City Manager
William Galvez, Interim Executive Director
Public Works Agency
Date: September 5, 2013
Project No. 12 -6418: PARTON STREET SEWER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
Order No. 1
CONTRACTOR: Atlas - Allied, Inc.
1210 N. Las Brista Street
Anaheim, CA 92806
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: SEWER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
CHANGE ORDER NUMBER: 1
ACCOUNTING UNIT - ACCOUNT - ACTIVITY NUMBER:
JUSTIFICATION
J
CHANGE ORDER TOTAL: $ 1,610`1:0-
05617600 66220- 1264180yy0'27
NO
i
RJ^N
NJ
c°A
22
c
The project provides for the replacement of an old, deteriorated, and undersized sewer
main located under Parton Street between 10th Street and Washington Avenue (Exhibit 2).
The improvements include the installation of a new sewer main, sewer laterals, manholes
and appurtenances. Once completed, the sewer main breaks associated with the older
and deteriorated system will be eliminated and the increased capacity will significantly
reduce the chance of future sewer overflows.
The contract requires the contractor to tie -in to the existing water main. Before this work
can commence, water valves need to be shut off. However, due to the age of the existing
pipe and valves, the Cities' Water Division was unable to shut down the water at the
closest valves. Consequently, water would need to be shut off at the next valve, which
significantly increases the number of properties that would be affected by the shut -down.
Therefore, the contractor was required to demobilize, re- notify the residents, and
remobilize a second time for the construction of the water connection. This would
compensate the contractor for all costs to demobilize, the re- notify the residents, and
remobilize. (PCO #01) A prior approval was granted for this work on July 2, 2013.
AGREED COST $ 1,610.18
