DESCRIPTION OF THE SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM <br />The SmartCover° communication system is unique in that it does not use GSM, GPRS <br />or any other cell phone based system to communicate from the manhole location. <br />SmartCover® uses the highly reliable Iridium satellite system as the communications <br />backbone. Iridium is a state of the art system of 66 Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites <br />with 6 orbiting spares. This satellite system has many years of reliable experience. <br />The SmartCover° system uses 2048 bit encrypted servers stored in a climate controlled <br />and secure facility. The servers are redundant and have an emergency power supply to <br />prevent any interruptions.
