was mistakenly placed on this file instead of the file for the structure <br />at 400 South Bristol, a home erected in 1919 by a Mr. John Sebastian. <br />However, fie)d inspection revealed that the Sebastian house no longer <br />exists and that there is no such current address as either 400 or 410 <br />South Bristol. The Sebastian house was razed before or as part of the <br />construction of Tract 1804, accoMplished in 1953. <br />Investigation with Heritage Orange County, Incarporated, 106 West <br />Fourth Street, Suite 505, Santa Ana, California 92701, established that <br />the historical preservation notice contained in the City of Santa Ana <br />files should have been included in the file pertaining to the property <br />at 1248 West Bishop Street. This property was erected in 1922 by E. A. <br />Walker and i5 one of the four properties identified in the original file <br />search as a possibiiitiy for historical preservation. This structure will <br />be discussed in some detail in the following section of this report. <br />Kathy Les of Heritage Orange County was most helpful in determining the <br />above information. <br />LIBRARY RESEARCH! On 9 July 1985 the collection at the .Santa Ana <br />Aistroy Room, Santa Ana Public Library was examined. The librarian of <br />the Santa Ana History Room, Anne Harder, was lost helpf0 in suggestln <br />sources to check and in locating them. <br />The work at the Santa Aria History Room did not provide any details <br />concerning any of the existing structures along Bristol Street, but a <br />great dial of information regarding the early history of the area was <br />gained. This information will be outlined in a later section of this <br />report. <br />The general collections of the Santa Ana Public Library and the <br />Orange County Law Library were utilized on 10 July 1985 to determine if <br />any property on gristol Street in the project area had previously been <br />no- minateu for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places or <br />the California Inventory of Historic f- sources. No such nominations have <br />been made (Federal Register 1979 -1985, California Department of Parks and <br />Recreation 1975). <br />The most profound discovery rude in these general library collections <br />concerned the first few Orange County Fairs, the livestock portions of <br />which were held at a racetrack which was located immediately east of <br />
