Project Location: The City of Santa Ana is in central Orange County, bordered by the cities of Orange <br />to the north, Garden Grove to the north and west, Fountain Valley to the west and southwest, Costa <br />Mesa to the south, Irvine to the southeast, and Tustin to the east. State Route 22 (SR -22) parallels the <br />City on the north, Interstate 5 (I -5) and State Route 55 (SR -55) run through the northeastern corners of <br />the City, and Interstate 405 (I -405) is just south of the City boundaries. <br />S. General Plan Designation: Implementation of the General Plan Housing Element as proposed would <br />involve all residential and nixed -use General Plan land use designations within the City. <br />7. Zoning: Implementation of the General Plan Housing Element as proposed would involve all residential <br />zoning districts and all districts that allow mixed -use development within the City. <br />S. Description of Project: The City of Santa Ana's General Plan Housing Element details the City's eight - <br />year strategy for enhancing and preserving the community's character; sets forth strategies for expanding <br />housing opportunities for the City's various economics segments; and provides the primary policy <br />guidance for local decision malting related to housing. The Housing Element also accommodates the <br />required housing balance per the Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA).
