Rehabilitation Electrical service panels, breakers and wiring that do not meet the <br />minimum standard shall be replaced. Practical, cost effective repairs <br />are acceptable as long as compliance with the minimum standard <br />will be achieved. <br />• Knob and tube wiring shall be replaced regardless of its condition. <br />Overhead wiring from a dwelling to a detached garage or accessory <br />building shall be installed underqround regardless of its condition. <br />Replacement • Reputable manufacturer. <br />Service • 100- ampere (minimum). <br />Replacement • Romex (NM cable). <br />Minimum Standard • Safe, sound and in good working order. <br />Light fixtures shall (at a minimum) be equipped with CFL bulbs. <br />Exterior lighting fixtures used for security shall be equipped with a <br />motion sensor. <br />Rehabilitation • Electrical switches, outlets and lighting fixtures that do not meet the <br />minimum standard shall be replaced. Practical, cost effective repairs <br />are acceptable as long as compliance with the minimum standard <br />will be achieved. <br />• All new light fixtures shall be U.L. approved and Energy Star <br />qualified. <br />• Outlets located within 6 feet of a source of water shall be ground <br />fault protected. <br />Exterior switches and outlets shall be weatherproof. <br />Replacement • U.L. approved. <br />Switches & Outlets _ <br />Replacement 0 Reputable manufacturer. <br />Liphtinp Fixtures • U.L. approved and EPA Enerqv Star qualified. <br />251 -100 <br />Minimum Standard <br />• <br />Safe, sound and in good working order. <br />• <br />Five or more years of practical utility. <br />Rehabilitation <br />0 <br />HVAC that does not meet the minimum standard shall be replaced. <br />Practical, cost effective repairs are acceptable as long as compliance <br />with <br />the minimum standard will be achieved. <br />• <br />Tune -up all HVAC equipment (as a minimum). <br />• <br />Seal all ducts (as a minimum). <br />• <br />All new HVAC equipment shall be sized properly. <br />Furnaces <br />Reputable manufacturer. <br />• <br />EPA Energy Star qualified. <br />Central Air Conditioners <br />0 <br />Reputable manufacturer. <br />•_ <br />EPA Energy Star ualified.^ <br />Thermostats <br />Reputable manufacturer. <br />• <br />EPA Energy Star qualified. <br />• <br />Programmable. <br />251 -100 <br />
