The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana
hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:

A. On October 6, 2011, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly
noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of
Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No.
2011-03) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission
Categorization No. 2011-03) of the Hall-Knickerbocker House, located at
1901 North Heliotrope Drive, Santa Ana.
B. The Hall-Knickerbocker House is an architecturally significant building built
in 1930 in the Tudor Revival style.
C. This home qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical
Properties and is eligible for categorization as Key because it possesses
“distinctive architectural style and quality.” Further, this is an excellent
example of restoration using all of the Secretary of the Interior Standards.
This home was nearly destroyed by fire in 2008, and the homeowners
rebuilt the structure utilizing the standards so that it would retain its
architectural significance and remain eligible for the Santa Ana Register of
Historical Properties.
D. Character defining exterior features of the Hall-Knickerbocker House that
should be preserved include, but may not be limited to, exterior materials,
massing, casement window style, and half-timbering.
E. The legal owners of the subject property are Maximilian Eamon Garces
and Kimberly Hagan.
F. The legal description for the subject property is attached hereto as Exhibit
A and incorporated by this reference as though fully set forth herein.
