This fanner ranch house stands in striking contrast to its more recent neighbors. Originally, the house was accessed from Seventeenth Street on the south, so the current street (west) facade was intended to be a side elevation. A complex roof composed of a gambrel, front and side gables, and shed and hipped roof sections caps the two -story building. The original narrow clapboard siding remains on some portions of the exterior, primarily below a sill level stringcourse on the ground floor and on the face of the front gambrel and its crowning gablet, while stucco covers the remainder. Two tall and narrow double - hung sash windows are centered in the gambrel face, which is sandwiched between the roof of a clipped gable above it and a pent roof below it The lower story fenestration features a tripartite window in the center bay, a single, double -hung sash in the north bay, and a recessed porch containing the entry in the south bay. Alterations include the replacement of the windows, addition of shutters, and replacement of the original wood porch supports with lacy wrought iron in the New Orleans style. The south elevation features a gabled second story projection containing a pair of double -hung sash windows overlooking a wood - railed balcony. On the north elevation, an attached brick chimney has been rebuilt. Lushly landscaped, the property is in excellent condition.
