2014-15 Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center <br />Youth Workforce Investment Act Proposal <br />Certificate program will start again in 2014-15 fiscal year. The SAC had to restructure and hire new <br />faculty for this certificate program. Please see table 5 on page 12 for more details. <br />TABLE 5: State Certificate Programs at OCCTAC in partnership with the Santa Ana College <br />o PROGRAM <br />DISCRIPTION <br />Days%ime8 <br />Executive Administrative <br />This program prepares students for in-depth training in <br />Monday <br />Assistant Certificate <br />executive secretary/administrative assistant positions. The <br />Tuesday <br />Program <br />open-entry/open exit, competency -based format promotes <br />Wednesday <br />success in a high employment occupational field. The <br />Thursday <br />program develops skills in research, report and <br />correspondence preparation, advanced computer software <br />5:30 — 8:30 pm <br />applications, database management, interactive <br />presentations, customer service and telephone techniques, <br />and other advanced office procedures. <br />Child Care Worker <br />Students learn about health information required for <br />M, W, F <br />Certificate Program <br />licensing and skills necessary for successful operation of a <br />childcare business. Also, students learn soft skills for those <br />8:30 am — 12:00 <br />who would prefer to be employed by a childcare business. <br />pm <br />Mental Health <br />Students learn basic skills for employment as a <br />Paraprofessional <br />Paraprofessional mental health worker. They acquire <br />Certificate Program <br />knowledge about the treatment of psychological and <br />behavioral health disorders and the philosophy of delivery of <br />In Progress <br />mental health services to improve entry into this field. This <br />Days and Times <br />certificate program develops competency for vocational <br />are Pending <br />success that allows students to attain skill development in <br />basic delivery of services, documentation and reporting, <br />introduction to human development, principals of case <br />management, working with families and employability. <br />B. Describe the training that will lead to the certificate/diploma/credential. <br />Participant will be asked to attend each class at a minimum of 2 days a week, and complete all <br />assignments. Participants will also be asked to use information learned in their current Work <br />experience placements, before taking class exams in order to ensure retention and knowledge of <br />information. <br />C. What types of occupations will the training/certificates lead to? Are those occupations in <br />demand? Please provide data and sources.
