DAT..LY TRIAGE OF MEDICAL REQUESTS <br />Daily triaging of medical xequests is designed to ensure that inmates have <br />the ability to request medical attention on a daily basis. 'Phis funotlon also <br />improves the delivery of health care services by ensuring that medical <br />problems are prioritized and handled in a vnedicalty appropriate and timely <br />manner. <br />All inmates (including those in segregation) will be able to raquest <br />medical services by utilizing the exi�stin.g written request form (desoribed <br />in the following section). R aquests will be gathered, reviewed acid triaged <br />by the nursing staff ,seven (7) days a week, including holidays. <br />Emergencies will be evaluated and treated innnediately. Other xequesta <br />will be prioritized and referred to the appropriate; p'rovIder as Indicated, <br />Completed request forms will be placed in the inmate's medical record. <br />The objectives of sick call are several: (1) to meet the day-to-day needs of <br />the inmate, (2) to provide care which minimizos the ,potential for <br />exacerbation or complications, (3) to maximize the level of services <br />provided on-site, and (4) to provide patios( education, <br />City oN',anla Am Jail 17- <br />Pmposn!
