Plan <br />map showing the National Register <br />boundaries. <br />Verbal boundary description: The <br />nominated area includes the 12 -acre <br />Hanging Rock take and 12 acres of <br />surrounding land defined by a line <br />running 175 feet from the high -water <br />edge of the lake on all sides. Bound- <br />ary justification: The nominated area <br />incorporates the bathhouse and its <br />immediate historic setting of lake and <br />surrounding woodland essential to its <br />historic function and character, <br />including the dam that forms the lake. <br />Lac qui Parle State Park WPA/ <br />Rustic Style Historic District, Lac qui <br />Parle County, Minnesota, includes <br />three buildings in the public -use area <br />of the park, located adjacent to the Lac <br />qui Parle River. Architects for these <br />projects were from the National Park <br />Service and the Design Office within <br />the Department of Conservation. The <br />district is significant for its association <br />with the social, political, and eco- <br />nomic impact of the Great Depression <br />and the subsequent development of <br />the Federal relief programs that were <br />responsible for the construction of the <br />contributing buildings. The buildings <br />are outstanding examples of rustic <br />style /split stone construction. The <br />boundaries were selected to include a <br />limited setting around the three <br />contributing buildings.
