Library Program grantees are subject to different requirements and may make subgrants <br />under certain circumstances (45 C.F.R. § 1183.37). <br />Native American Human Remains and Associated Funerary Objects <br />The grantee must comply with the provisions of the Native American Graves Protection <br />and Repatriation Act of 1990 ( "_S US.C. § 3001 etsegJ, which applies to any <br />organization that controls or possesses Native American human remains and associated <br />Funerary objects, and which receives federal funding, Been for a purpose unrelated to the <br />Act, <br />Historic Properties <br />The grantee must assist the awarding agency (IMES) in ensuring compliance with <br />Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (16 U.S.C. <br />§4700. Executive Order (E.Q.) I I593, and the Archaeological and Historic Preservation <br />Actor 1974 (16 G.S.C. §469 et seq.). <br />Environmental Protections <br />The project must comlaly with environmental standards, including the following: <br />(a) institution of environmental quality control meastres under the national <br />Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (42 U.S.C. §4321 etseq.) and <br />E.0. 1 1514, <br />(b) notification ot'violating facilities pw'suant to E.Q. 1 1738; <br />(c) protection or wetlands pursuant to E.Q. 11990, as amended by E.O. 12608; <br />(d) evaluation of flood hazards in floodplains in accordance with E.Q. 11988, as <br />amended; <br />(e) assurance oFproject consistency with the approved state management program <br />developed under the Coastal Zone :Management Act of 1972, as amended (16 <br />U.S.0 §1451 <br />(f) conformity of federal actions to State (Clean Air) Implementation Plans under <br />section I Net of the Clean Air Pict of 1 955, as amended (42 G.S.C. §740 t et <br />seq. ); <br />�) protection of underground sources of drinking Water under the Safe Drinking <br />Water Act or 1974, as amended (42 U.S_C. §300f et seq.), <br />(h) protection of endangered species under the Endangered Species Act or 1973, as <br />amended (16 G.S.C. §1531 - 1543): <br />(i) the Wild and Scenic Rivers act of 1968, as amended (16 G.S.C. X1271 et <br />seq.), related to protecting components or potential components of the <br />national wild and scenic rivers system; and <br />(j) the grantee must comply with the flood insurance requirements of the <br />Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973, as amended (42 G.S.C. §4001 cat <br />seq.), which requires recipients in a special flood hazard area to <br />participate in the program and to purchase flood insurance iF the total cost <br />of insurable construction and acquisition is 510,000 or more <br />Research on Human Subjects <br />22 <br />
