HISTORSC PROPERTY SURVEY REPORT <br />Widening of Bristol Street, from warner Avenue to <br />Santiago Creek, in the City of Santa Ana <br />File 07- 0ra -0 -5A <br />Federal No. M -M017 <br />t Pra}ect Description <br />The proposed project would entail the widening and recanstruct'snn <br />of Bristol Street, from Warner Avenue to Santiago Creek, in the City of <br />Santa Ana. A 110` right -of -way is proposed throughout the entire <br />project corridor, in accordaszce vAth both Orange County and City of <br />Santa Ana Master Plans. Six lanes of through traffic, within a <br />curt -to -curb roadway width of 100 feet, would be provided, with dual. <br />Seft -turn pockets, right turn only lanes and bus turnouts at the major <br />intersections. Outside of the roadway, the right -of -way will be <br />improved with a sidewalk and landscaped parkway, an Loth sides a1 the <br />street. The purpose of the proposed street widening is to improve the <br />flow of vehicular traffic, as well as the safety and quality of pedestrian <br />and vehicular circutatun thraug'nout the project area. <br />Three widening alternatives are under consideration. The first <br />alternative would entail widening evenly from the centerline. A second <br />alternative would widen Bristol Street only on the east side. A third <br />alternative would widen the street uniiy on the west side. A fourth <br />possible alternative could consist of a combination of even and one side <br />widening, as determined by the City of Santa Ana. Based on present <br />right -nf -way dimensions in the project corridor, up to 50' of <br />right -of -way may be acquired to facilitate the selected widening <br />alternative in a given area. <br />Project Location <br />See Figure 1, following. <br />Area of Potential Environmental impact (APEI) <br />See Figure 2, following. <br />11 Resume of Survey <br />A. Methodology <br />At the request of Wifidan Associates, registered professionals <br />in the fields of archaeology, architectural history and paleontology <br />were retained to investigate the existence at any significant <br />historical and cultural resources within the APEI.
