RESOLUTION NO. 2016- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA OPPOSING THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY'S PROPOSED 2016 <br />SERVICE PLAN <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has the highest ridership and rate of usage of <br />the countywide public transportation system; and <br />WHEREAS, public transit, specifically bus service, is a vital link for residents of <br />Santa Ana to get to and from work, educational institutions, places of worship, medical <br />appointments, and shopping; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has the youngest population in the County of <br />Orange and the lowest income residents, resulting in a transit - dependent population; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority's Proposed 2016 Bus <br />Service Plan has detrimental impacts to the residents and bus riders within the City of <br />Santa Ana and throughout the County of Orange; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is concerned as to the process and methodology <br />utilized in the elimination of bus routes within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the negative impacts of eliminating bus routes to the most vulnerable <br />population of residents would have lasting negative impacts to the livelihood of individuals <br />and families in the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is strongly opposed to the elimination of any <br />routes within the City of Santa Ana without careful and collaborative communication. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, <br />Section 1.
