This is a net decrease of 28 active <br />employees, or. about 4%. <br />- The number of covered retirees and survivors increased by 21 from 495 to 516, <br />representing about a 4% increase. Of the 39 new retirees since the prior valuation, <br />0 15 were eligible for minimum medical benefits. Of these, 8 waived medical and <br />are only receiving retiree life insurance coverage. The other 7 elected to continue <br />their medical coverage and pay all but $122 per month toward the premiums. <br />o The other 22 receive life insurance coverage and qualified for higher medical <br />benefits from the City. 20 of these retirees continue their medical coverage <br />through CaIPERS; the other two opted to find their own coverage and receive up <br />to $6,000 per year toward the cost. <br />Bickmore (f"Av'> <br />U <br />
