Workshops/Seminars <br /> Develop workshops and seminars to be conducted at community and <br /> business locations focused upon: <br /> • Yard Waste Diversion/Composting <br /> • Commercial Recycling <br /> • Source Reduction <br /> • Environmental Issues/Awareness <br /> Earth Day Awareness Program <br /> • Great Western will organize a series of events related to Earth <br /> Day including a press conference, school <br /> poster contest, and tours of the Santa Ana/City-Cycle <br /> MRF. <br /> Small Grants for the Environmental Program <br /> • Great Western will initiate a new grant program geared to <br /> teachers, schools, and youth clubs, whereby $500 grants will <br /> be awarded to conduct recycling and environmental theme <br /> activities such as science fairs, recycling/environmental <br /> curriculum materials, MRF tours, essay contests, public <br /> forums, etc. Each year, Great Western will host a reception <br /> for City leaders, recognize grant recipients, and publish and <br /> distribute a booklet chronicling all achievements. <br /> Integrated Waste Management Video <br /> • Continue to work with City of Santa Ana staff and Comcast <br /> Cable to produce an integrated waste management video. <br /> 73 <br />
