In 1991, Waste Management provided curbside residential recycling services to more than 5 million households in more than 600 communities. Recycle America® and Recycle Canada® also collected recyclables from more than 40,000 businesses. During 1991, Recycle America® processed 1.8 million tons of material for recycling and composting, an increase of 77 percent over 1990.
