channel, and work experience at externship sites at local businesses and city departments. 6) <br />During their work experience, the youth will operate in teams, where the need for teamwork will <br />help them to develop an understanding of the importance of responsible behavior and an <br />opportunity to display leadership. They will also participate in a Teen Community Leadership <br />Institute program that will be coordinated by library's Youth Civic Engagement internship <br />program. 7) Students will be provided with the educational materials and equipment required to <br />successfully complete the program, as well as transportation to and from program sites from the <br />library. 8) During the entire learning and working period, youth will be mentored and supported <br />by adults and responsible young adults from the library and the College. 9) Follow-up services <br />for a minimum of 12 months after program completion will be provided for youth to support <br />educational and/or employment endeavors. 10) A Masters in Counseling intern and Doctor of <br />Psychology skilled in a variety of fields, including addiction and family counseling, will be <br />available to students as needed to provide counseling and referral services. 11) All youth <br />participants will be provided workshops that will train them in financial literacy, 12) in <br />entrepreneurial skills training and, 13) in labor market information leading to career awareness <br />and exploration. 14) Fieldtrips to post -secondary education institutions, enrollment in SAC <br />study skills, business and/or digital media classes, one-on-one college counseling sessions and <br />workshops, as well as Padres Promotores workshops for youth and parents of in -school youth <br />will serve to help youth prepare for and transition to postsecondary education. <br />Upon eligibility determination, all 22 participants will be streamed into 3 program tracks. <br />Track 1: Out —of -School Youth: Microsoft Office Applications certifications and Intermediate <br />Digital Media Apprenticeships (9 participants; 300 hours ): Digital Media Arts 100 Course (3 <br />Units): 56 hours, Video Production: 20 hours, One-on-one Educational Counseling: 3 hours, <br />MOOC's based certification trainings: 28 hours, Workshops, Field Trips, Trainings: 23 hours, <br />Civic Engagement/Volunteer projects: 20 hours ,Work -Experience Internship/ Externships: 15C <br />hours. <br />Track 2: Out —of -School Youth: Microsoft Office Applications certifications and Beginner Digital <br />Media Apprenticeships (8 participants: 250 hours ): Digital Media Arts 100 Course (3 Units): 56 <br />hours, Video Production: 20 hours, One-on-one Educational Counseling: 3 hours, MOOC's <br />based certification trainings: 28 hours, Workshops, Field Trips, Trainings: 23 hours, Civic <br />Engagement/Volunteer projects: 20 hour ,Work -Experience Internship/ Externships: 100 hours <br />Track 2: In -School Youth: Microsoft Office Applications certifications and Beginner Digital <br />Media Apprenticeships (5 participants; 150 hours ): Digital Media Arts 100 Course (3 Units): 56 <br />hours, Video Production : 12 hours, MOOC's based certification trainings: 28 hours, <br />Workshops, Field Trips, Trainings: 12 hours, Civic Engagement/Volunteer projects: 12 hours, <br />Work Experience Internship/ Externships: 30 hours <br />The duration of the Seeds to Trees program is approximately one year (44 weeks), from August <br />2017 to June 2018 of the following year for the first iteration and from August 2018-June 2019 <br />for the second. In order for a youth apprentice to receive the maximum benefits of the program, <br />we require that he/she must commit to between 5-12 hours a week of participation. These hours <br />per week include instruction and work experience in addition to workshops to enhance <br />participant skills. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
