360 Diversion <br />708 North Garfield SL <br />Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />April M 2017 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />Downtown Restroom Artwork Project <br />Dear City of Santa Ana: <br />Allow me to commend to you Kimberly Duran and her partner Bud Herrera who are applying as <br />artists ter your Downtown Restroom Artwork Project. Our family owns the building at 708 N. <br />Garfield where one of'Kimberly's public annals appears. Additionally I work with Dr. Cristina <br />Kampfiter and her 3617 Turnaround Youth Diversion Program that site conducts it that address, <br />which combines Lyardening, counseling and yoga to help youth avoid the juvenile justice system. <br />When Kimberly approached us about painting it mural on our wall I was immediately struck by <br />her absolute zeal for the public art she creates. Additionally she was completely in time with the <br />community where the mural vvould be located and the work done by our organization to serve <br />Santa Ana's Hispanic community. We had an extended discussion about what we wanted <br />relleeted in the mural, children, the agricultural roots of our family, optimism, and site was able <br />to perfectly capture those notions in the alternative designs she sketched for us. <br />Once the design %kas selected she did an outstanding job paintiru, the mural and making sure that <br />we were totally satisfied with the work she had done, The mural is as beautiful today, and as <br />uplifting-, as the day it was installed. I can't tell you ho" many positive comments from the <br />community and passers-by we have received from that moral, and it is a constant positive <br />affirmation for the children parficipatine, in our diversion programs. <br />Please allow Kimberly and Bud to create your murals.
