RESOLUTION NO. 2017-058 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AMEND THE CURRENT ANNUAL <br />BUDGET TO ADD THIRTEEN FULL TIME <br />CORRECTIONAL POSITIONS IN THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On July 5, 2017, the City Council passed and adopted Ordinance No. <br />NS -2919, establishing the City's Budget and authorizing position allocations for <br />Fiscal Year 2017-2018. The Ordinance also sets forth the requirement that <br />alterations in the allocation of authorized positions be reviewed and approved by <br />the City Council. <br />B. On March 18, 2014, the City Council adopted the 5 -year Santa Ana Strategic <br />Plan. This plan established specific goals, objectives and strategies to guide the <br />City's major efforts during the next five years. <br />C. On August 1, 2017, the City Council approved a proposal to provide an <br />additional 173 beds to the U.S. Marshal's Service to house inmates. <br />D. To assist the City in meeting Santa Ana Strategic Plan Goal #1 Community <br />Safety, Objective #3 (promote fiscal accountability to ensure financial <br />responsibility at all levels of the organization), the Police Chief recommends <br />adding thirteen (13) full time positions to the Police Department's budget and to <br />the City's classification and compensation plan to the accommodate the U.S. <br />Marshal's request for additional bed space and manage the additional inmates. <br />The positions will include ten Correctional Officers, two Correctional Supervisors, <br />and one Correctional Manager (AM). <br />E. It is now desired to amend the Adopted Budget Resolution No. 2017-026 for <br />Fiscal Year 2017-2018, as amended, to effect these changes. <br />Section 2: That Ordinance No. NS -2919, the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year <br />2017-2018, as amended, shall be further amended by adding thirteen (13) full time <br />positions in the Police Department, at the monthly five-step salary rate range as <br />indicated: <br />Resolution No. 2017-058 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
