In College Bound, Academic Advisors provide the regular tutoring, academic advising, and other tactical support needed to <br />help teens understand, undertake, and succeed in college application and matriculation. Advisors track students' A -G high school <br />graduation requirements to make sure they are on track to attend UC/CSU, understand application and testing procedures, <br />identify financial aid opportunities and commitments made to attend college, and manage other deadlines associated with <br />college attendance. All College Bound students are introduced to opportunities beyond four year institutions: community college, <br />trade schools, military, and other alternatives. College Bound teens have access to resources and tutors that focus on academics <br />and provide homework and SAT/PSAT assistance. Advisors also maintain an extensive list of scholarships and grants with <br />deadlines and requirements, matching students to appropriate opportunities, and we provide FAFSA and scholarship workshops <br />and application assistance to help them secure financial resources. For first -generation college students, whose families are often <br />unfamiliar with the college application process, these services demystify the process of applying for admission and make college <br />an attainable goal. <br />b. Services are offered five days a week, year -around. <br />c. The case management component of College Bound involves one-on-one support between the teens and Academic <br />Advisors. We supplement academic learning with weekly workshops on college requirements, writing skills, SAT preparation, <br />resume writing, and other topics; we also offer college tours, field trips, and motivational guest speakers. Another role of the <br />Academic Advisors is to meet and counsel parents to inform them about the process and costs associated with College, the value <br />of earning an advanced degree, and engaging them in their child's educational journey. <br />d. The majority of the students we serve are typically low-income students ages 13-18 at our main Club Garage Teen Center <br />site and partner sites at Santa Ana High School (520 W. Walnut St, Santa Ana, CA 92701), Saddleback High School (2802 S. Flower <br />St., Santa Ana, CA 92707), Samuel! Academy (1901 N. Fairview St, Santa Ana, CA 92706), NOVA Academy (500 W. Santa Ana Blvd, <br />Santa Ana, CA 92701). 97% of participants are Latina/o.
