your independent haallhcare Choice. <br />• Provide care and treatment to inmates with communicable diseases, including the <br />recommendation for special housing/isolation when medically indicated; <br />• Implement Bloodborne Pathogen Program; <br />• Monitor compliance with treatment regimens and continuity of care for inmates with <br />communicable diseases; <br />• Ensure confidentiality; <br />• Define decontamination of medical equipment and proper disposal of sharp instruments and <br />biohazard wastes; <br />• Define strict adherence to universal precautions by all NaphCare staff to minimize the risk of <br />exposure to blood and body fluids of inmates; and <br />• Provide reports to designated authority of infectious diseases and nosocomial infections <br />(infections that originate or occur in a hospital) in accordance with local, state, and federal laws <br />and regulations. <br />Meetings are held at least quarterly, or whenever an infection control issue requires immediate or <br />continuing attention. A licensed healthcare provider is designated to serve as the Infection Control <br />Coordinator. The infection control committee will consist of the following members: <br />• Medical Director or Physician; <br />• Dentist or representative, if applicable; <br />• HSA; <br />• Director of Nursing, if applicable; <br />• Infection Control Coordinator; <br />• Institutional Authority representative; and <br />• Any other representatives, depending on issues for discussion as designated in <br />conjunction with the HSA or our Corporate Office. <br />Infectious disease reporting is achieved through the TechCare® system. An inmate diagnosed with an <br />infectious disease is immediately enrolled in a chronic care clinic that will then provide the appropriate <br />referrals and treatment plan. The inmate's care can be tracked through the chronic care clinic module in <br />TechCare®. TechCare® maintains data in real time to ensure that appropriate care is provided. <br />Infection Control Education <br />All new hires receive a comprehensive introduction and overview of the infection control program <br />during their orientation period via our training module, Relias Learning. In addition, we provide annual <br />review and competency training of our infection control program for all site staff via Relias Learning as <br />well as on -site in -services. Infectious disease education includes, but is not limited to blood -borne <br />pathogens, air -borne pathogens, post -exposure management, proper hand washing technique, bio- <br />hazardous waste handling, and MRSA. We also provide inmate patient education handouts that address <br />MRSA, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C for use in the facilities. <br />Delousing Procedures <br />As part of our policy and procedure for Infection Control, we implement delousing procedures in <br />accordance with NCCHC standard J-13-01.
